26% of fires occur in the home, 75% of fire deaths and 72% of fire injuries occur in the home (Ahrens and Maheshwari, 2021). Additionally, NFPA has indicated that 60% of residential fire deaths occur when smoke detection is not present or disabled (Ahrens, 2021).

A properly designed, installed, inspected, tested, maintained and monitored Household Fire Alarm System is mission critical in providing an early warning to all occupants in a home during an imminent fire emergency

Without having a Fire Alarm System that reliably provides an early warning during a fire to all occupants in a home dramatically increases the propensity for serious personal injury and/or death.

NFPA 72 by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is the most authoritative treatise on household and all other types of fire alarm systems. At IDS we are experts in NFPA 72, and President Jeffrey Zwirn was appointed by the NFPA to serve on NFPA 72- National Fire Alarm Code and NFPA 72- National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code technical committees and was designated as a Special Expert (SE) by the NFPA.  Mr. Zwirn also holds the Nationally Recognized Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) Credential through the National Fire Protection Association.
